Course content

The Internship is an elective course in the Master of Earth Sciences program, which can be worth 24-36 ECTS (corresponding to 4-6 months of full-time work). During the internship, students demonstrate their academic skills in a professional environment, such as a company, consulting firm, water board or research institute.

The student is responsible for finding the internship, whether through personal contacts, internet searches, the list provided on Canvas, or other sources. The content of the internship must align with the level and objectives of the master's program and its tracks. For details on the roles of the daily advisor and examiner, please refer to the Canvas page.

    Additional information

Students are advised to undertake it in the final stage of their studies. This timing allows them to offer their highest level of scientific knowledge and skills to the host company/institute, making them more attractive to potential employers. Additionally, many students find that they can continue working at the company or institute in a regular job after the Internship. By planning the Internship just before graduation, the gap between the Internship and securing a job may be minimised.
