Objectives

  • The student understands affine and projective toric varieties and their basic properties.
  • The student can comfortably manipulate the fan associated to a toric variety and use it to compute properties of the variety.
  • The student can manipulate lattice points and polytopes in easy examples.
  • The student understands and knows how to use homogeneous coordinates.
  • The student understand the concept of divisor an a toric variety and knows how to do easy computation with them.
