Elective flow cytometry and microscopy data analysis

Microscopy and flow cytometry are key technologies in most research projects, and require training in usage as well as data analysis. During your internships and beyond you will be trained by core facility staff to use these instruments, but ideally you already have insights in the techniques and especially the data analysis options. During this elective you will see key instruments and techniques, and especially work hands-on on data sets and different data analysis programs.

Objectives

  • The student is able to explain the basic principles behind the imaging & flow techniques, their applications and limitations.
  • The student is able to design new experiments to answer biomedical questions using imaging & flow techniques.
  • The student is able to compare and select scientific technologies for specific applications, analyse and interpret data using common data analysis tools.
  • The student is able to clearly present scientific data and present the data in written and visual reports.
  • The student is able to collaborate with peers.
