Objectives

  • Acquire knowledge of foundation models, current theories and the core machine learning techniques to train, adapt and deploy them at scale.
  • Valuing ongoing research, challenges and debates on foundation models from both a technological and societal perspective.
  • Probe, experiment and evaluate foundation models to understand their abilities and limitations for a variety of downstream tasks, also beyond vision and language.
  • Reading, reviewing and presenting state-of-the-art scientific papers on foundation models.
  • Identify gaps in current knowledge of foundation models and define a research project to study the gap.
  • Writing a scientific paper about a research project and submit it to an academic venue.
