In the first part of the course we will go into common sense reasoning (nonmonotonic and probabilistic) that is used a lot to describe the reasoning with conditionals and defaults. In the second part of the course we will deal with the need of causality, also for statistics.

the exams together count for 80% of the course. The other 20% comes from the assignments (huiswerk). (the deadlines will be strict). The student must have more than a 5.0 on average for the homework to pass the course. The first exam is about common sense reasoning (the readers on probability and logic and non monotonic logic) and the second exam will be about the causal inference book (plus the slides)
there will be separate meetings where the exams are discussed.
Every week there will be an assignment. The assignments have to be made individually. During the werkcollege homework feedback is given. The assignments will be graded, and the average of the assignments will count for 20% of the final grade. Moreover, the students must have at least a 5.0 on average for the assignments to pass the course.
