Globale inhoud

In the first part of the course we will go into common sense reasoning (nonmonotonic and probabilistic) that is used a lot to describe the reasoning with conditionals and defaults. In the second part of the course we will deal with the need of causality, also for statistics.

Aanwezigheidseisen opleiding (OER-B):

  • Voor practica en werkgroepbijeenkomsten met opdrachten geldt een aanwezigheidsplicht. De invulling van deze aanwezigheidsplicht kan per vak verschillen en staat aangegeven in de studiewijzer. Wanneer studenten niet voldoen aan deze aanwezigheidsplicht kan het onderdeel niet met een voldoende worden afgerond.

Aanvullende eisen voor dit vak:

de aanwezigheidsplicht bij werkgroepen zal worden nageleefd.

the exams together count for 70% of the course. The other 30% comes from the assignments (huiswerk). (the deadlines will be strict). The student must have more than a 5.5 on average for the homework to pass the course. The first exam is about common sense reasoning (the readers on counterfactuals, and probability and logic) and the second exam will be about the causal inference book (plus the slides)

Inzage toetsing

there will be separate meetings where the exams are discussed.

Opdrachten

Every week there will be an assignment. The assignments have to be made individually. During the werkcollege homework feedback is given. The assignments will be graded, and the average of the assignments will count for 30% of the final grade. Moreover, the students must have at least a 5.5 on average for the assignments to pass the course.
